To use templates to Edit CSV Files

Editing CSV files often turns out to be a repetitive job, for example updating product lists regularly in an ecommerce application. The use of templates can gain tremendous time and are very easy to set up. Templates can be used in Rons CSV Editor in diverse ways:

Templates can be used:

  • To create a new file, using the columns in the template.
  • Apply structural formatting to the columns in an existing CSV file (in the 'Edit Columns' window).
  • Apply visual formatting to the columns in an existing CSV file (in the 'Column Layout' window).

How to create a new template

  • Go to the 'Tools/Manage Template' menu.
    • Click on New.
    • Create a Name.
    • Select the Name and click on Edit.
    • Click on Add to create your template.
    • Enter the appropriate information in the section on the right.
  • Save the template.

Using templates to set column layout

To create a new structural template:

  • Go to the 'Column/Edit' menu.
  • Apply the appropriate settings:
    • Update the columns information accordingly to the new desired layout.
    • Select 'Templates/ Save as Template'.
    • Enter a Template name.
  • Save the template.

  • Go to the 'Column/Edit Column' menu.
  • Apply the appropriate settings:
    • Go to the 'Templates/Apply Template' menu and select the name of the appropriate template.

Using templates to applying visual formatting

To create a new visual template:

  • Go to the 'View/Column Layout' menu.
  • Apply the appropriate settings:
    • Update the Edit Column window information accordingly to the new desired layout.
    • Select 'Templates/Save as Template'.
    • Enter a Template name.

  • Apply the appropriate settings:
    • Go to the 'Templates/Apply Template' menu and select the name of the appropriate template.
